The world and its Mammy have been telling you to get your business on Facebook – but now that you’ve set up the Page is it ready?
A bare Facebook Page that doesn’t offer information or value to the customer is never going to grow in likes, but where should you start? No matter how busy you are, taking the time to get the basics done right is well worth it.
Since we’re such a sound bunch, we’ve compiled the top 5 things you need to get going on your Page…
Fill out as many business details as you can
These days the average person will use Google or Facebook to search for a business phone number. So make sure the details are as up to date as possible!
Fill out your address, opening hours, price range, and include a compelling backstory to your business. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who knows nothing about your business, and provide them with as much information as possible.
Add a Book Now/Call Now button
Do you take bookings over the phone or online? Do you have an information line? Whatever your main point of contact/conversion is – use a button to make it easy for people!
So the next time someone is drooling over pictures of your food they can satisfy that food envy to make a dinner reservation!
Choose striking images for your profile picture and header
Got a company logo? Use that as your profile picture. Failing that, pick a high-quality image of your food or product, something that will draw attention when someone scrolls past your posts.
Play around a little more with your header – this could be an exterior shot of the business or your staff. If you’re a whizz with photoshop you can even add some seasonal fun to your images at certain times of the year (make sure to change them back!)
Link your Instagram
This one might not be relevant if you’re only starting a Page for your business. But if you DO happen to have an Instagram already set up, you can easily link this in your Page settings. Switching to a business profile on Instagram gives you the option to add your number and email, plus get great insights on your posts. It also opens up advertising possibilities in the future.

Turn ON reviews
If reviews are relevant, make sure they’re on. The fear of a bad review isn’t a reason to ignore your customer feedback. It’s an important part of growing and improving a business, plus it can be a great motivator.
Responding to reviews is important, especially negative ones. Studies have shown that a business that responds to a negative review in a polite, calm manner with an offer to rectify or resolve a complaint will actually look better to the wider audience.
