For any business to thrive, you need to know what’s going on around you and when. Whether you’re a sports bar or a fine dining restaurant, engaging and connecting with the people coming to your vicinity is what will set you apart from the competition. Based on our customer discussions most restaurants find out what’s going on in their area by hiring a third party to do the research! This means paying someone to scroll through events sites and the internet and make a list of matches, concerts etc...But now there’s an app for that ;) Socio Connect! Built by us, for you. The aim is to make your life easier by saving you time and money.
So, as an example let’s take an upper market cocktail bar in central London. July is fast approaching and they are on the lookout for the best events nearby to capitalize on! The only problem is, how do you know what’s going on without spending a lot of valuable time trawling various events pages etc? Well, this is where Socio Connect comes in, specifically the Events feature of the platform.
So with that said, let’s take a look at Socio Connect and see what's showing up on the calendar for July. Each day has a dotted colour underneath it. These dots indicate the potential opportunity available to the business. Green indicates there is a great opportunity, amber average, red indicates there is not much going on.
But it is a little more sophisticated than that. We built in a relevancy tool which uses a clever little algorithm to suggest what will make the greatest impact on your business! This means you can filter the events going on in the city either by distance away or by relevance to the business.
We’ve selected the highest relevance to this business within a 5km radius. Socios sophisticated analytical tool is now doing the work to trawl hundreds of sites and databases to see what’s on! It then builds a relevancy score based on the objectives and targeted demographic of this business.
Next up we will select/deselect a few options based on whether or not they are relevant to this business. This one, in particular, is an upper-end cocktail bar - however, we can leave things a little broad because who doesn’t love a great cocktail from time to time? 😉
Now we will see some results!
We have Pride in London during the first week of July with a 100% relevance.
This is definitely an event we can promote and target for this business - so we are going to check that little green box on the far right. This will automatically communicate to our dedicated marketing team that this event is relative to your business! Therefore needs to be promoted. So whether you’re doing this in house, have Socio Local looking after things or a third party company who are using the platform; everyone has now been notified and can begin working on ideas and campaigns to capitalise on this event ahead of time!
Next up, we have been experiencing slower business due to the hotter weather and lack of an outdoor seating area. This is particularly affecting us mid-week when things might be quiet anyway... So I want to get on top of things and take a proactive approach to the situation. I’m going to look for local events, target them and that way, seek out new business!
I’ve selected Wednesday 17th and I’m being told that “Unbound London” has a relevancy of 70% - I’ve never even heard of this and have no idea what it is.
A quick Google tells me this is an award-winning festival bringing sources of innovation from across Europe to within 2km of our doorstep. After googling this event I can now see that this is really interesting and definitely something we need to target. This event hosts a range of speakers who include Co-Founder and CTO of Revolut – Vlad Yatsenko, EU Lead Evangelist of Amazon's Alexa – Max Amordeluso, Head of Global Operations for Google – Amrit Dhir and so many other interesting people. Ok so now an event I’ve never even heard of has really sparked my interest! Not only am I interested in going to this event, but now I’ve just made my marketing team aware of its potential footfall for my business! This took me less than 2 minutes.
So there you have it, a quick breakdown of how Socio Connect works and how it can benefit you as a business owner/manager. I have selected 2 events in the month of July which are now shared across all relevant employees and who can begin to strategise for the month ahead. We can even open a little internal chat box to talk more about our strategy in targeting these events and acquiring new customers.
